Private Driving Instruction

Instructors work with the student one-on-one and ride in the passenger seat on all exercises throughout the day, applying appropriate limits to the student and helping to improve driver confidence. Perfect for the “over confident” driver, or the “intimidated” driver. Instructor will proceed at the student’s pace and not move on, until student grasps the exercise.

SUV/Pickup Module

SKILLS offers SUV/Pickup module for students to understand the different limits of a high center of gravity vehicle. This module requires the student to provide their own vehicle, as there are so many types and sizes of SUV’s and Pickups. This module is typically taught immediately after the Graduation Ceremony.

Stick Shift Module

Manual transmission, also known as a “stick shift”, can be a traumatic experience for a parent, stressful for new drivers, and unforgiving to the clutch of a car. At SKILLS, students learn the basics of gear-shifting, including downshifting, proper procedure for engaging the clutch and how to come to a smooth stop. The hands-on experience provided will improve the driver’s level of confidence with operating a manual transmission so that he can better react in ‘panic’ situations such as recovering from a ‘stall’.
